 URBAN DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
‘Services before self has been the guiding principle of UDP. The urban outreach programme of UDP has been working towards promoting a productive atmosphere for children’s welfare and women’s empowerment. The UDP has been successful in extending its help and support to the people of the neglected urban slum clusters and resettlement colonies in Delhi. The urban slums in Delhi are overcrowded and women live in the most oppressive social and economic conditions. Women bear the entire burden of house work and much of the field work as well as and also bear the repercussions of repeated pregnancies beginning at an early age and subsequent care of the children.

Women’s holistic development is a pre-requisite to all round development of the society and the Nation. The major goal of UDP is to strengthen the life of women who are marginalized and deprived of opportunities in life. Woman is the backbone of a family because it is woman who sustains economy of the family. So empowering women brings lasting results. We believe that improving women’s access to economic opportunities and enhancing returns to their efforts will help them fight poverty. To achieve this, various services are provided to the economically under privileged families in Mangolpuri, Nandnagri, Govindpuri and Sangam Vihar. Women and Girls participating in this programme find strength to speak their views in public, to participate in public meetings and become independent.
