Rural Development Project is reaching out to various sections of society in the Najafgarh block of Delhi, with the aim of bringing about a social change.
The main focus of our work has always been women and children who are marginalised.

For developing entrepreneurial skills for girls , the family service centre runs the following vocational courses -

One year diploma course in Cutting and Tailoring

One year diploma course in Dress Designing

Short term courses in Knitting and Embroidery

A non-formal group for learning cutting and tailoring for six months

Reed Handicraft Production

Readymade garments unit

Pre-School education is given in the Balwadi for the children in the age-group of three to six years

Nutrition Education Programme is conducted in the Family Service Centre and in the villages of Najafgarh and Harayana and also in the communities of rag pikers
Main concern of the Nutrition Education Programme is to face the health aspect of women and children. In regular visits low cost Nutrition Recipes are taught along with lectures on increasing the nutrition value of food.
Recipe Competitions, Video film shows, Discussions, Nutrition Exhibition Programmes are held regularly to make the programme more effective and to get an active participation of the women.

In the family counsellings centre, We reach out to the families in crisis and our girls in the institute who are facing problems.

Family Life Education: Group sessions and workshops are organised , giving for adequate knowledge in vital areas, such as puberty, adolescence, human sexuality, marriage. family, etc. for stable relationship within the family and peer groups.
In 1996 RDP started its work with a group of rag picker children who were victims of poverty, social exploitation and parental neglect and abuse. Through our efforts and various activities, we have been able to put 107 children into the main stream of education and another 200 children were given non- formal education.

Through these children we have been able to reach out to over 100 of these rag-picker families and make timely intervention for wholistic development .
It is the backbone of RDP activities. The basic strategy of the department is to understand the community and to tap the resources within the community to mobilize and move forward to a better and brighter future.
